Apple M1

It was designed by Apple Inc. in November 2020. It is the most powerful chip ever created and especially the first chip designed only for Mac has both CPU and GPU for MacBook Pro 13 inch and MacBook Pro 15 inch. MacBook Air and Mac Mini models in 2020. Apple added M1 iMac and M1 iPad Pro.

According to the company, it is the world’s fastest CPU core and the world’s best CPU performance per watt. As per result, it can deliver 3.5x faster CPU performance, up to 6x faster GPU performance and 2x longer battery time than previous MAC systems. Apple claims the energy-efficient cores use one-tenth the power of the high-performance ones.

Intel chips

Intel chips are made on x86 architecture but the Apple silicon M1 uses an Arm-based architecture like A-series chips that Apple has been designing for years. The M1 is the first Apple-designed system on a Chip (SoC) developed for use in Mac systems. Mac used multiple chips before for CPU, security, I/O and more but now these technologies are combined in M1 chip. The M1 integrates several different components, including CPU, GPU, RAM, Neural Engine, Secure Enclave, SSD controller, image signal processor, encode/decode engines, Thunderbolt controller with USB 4 support and more in the Mac.
